Longview Police Department News Conference - February 24, 2017 - The Longview Police Department hosted a news conference on February 24, 2017 to discuss recent arrests, federal indictments, and the East Texas Area Safe Streets Task Force.
The news conference featured Longview Police Chief Mike Bishop, FBI Senior Special Agent in Charge Brent Chambers, Acting United States Attorney Brit Featherston, and Longview Mayor Andy Mack.
The news conference included an announcement that an additional Longview Police Officer is being added to the East Texas Area Safe Streets Task Force under the direction of the FBI. It was announced that through a combined Longview Police and FBI investigation, 10 suspects had been indicted and charged on federal charges and over $1 million of narcotics, weapons, and cash had been seized. In an unrelated case, it was announced that a suspect had been arrested for the murder of Victoria Sam.
